Nostalgic for Art Things
Every now and then I get reminded that shows used to have like promo artwork or just random, but fun illustrations that don't necessarily correlate with what the story is about and today I just received that from a post on my twit feed.
It's so wild to think that at some point that just stopped. Like it used to be for All the Things and now you are lucky to get like one or two (and it's often because it's a promo for a joint partnership like a company will be selling a product with that show's characters as part of its theme for a limited run or something). You'd get so much though and that's partly why the art books were sought after. Like yes, concept designs and turn arounds and scenes from the show/movie/whatever are fantastic, but getting extras like these characters are now at a cafe or they're in a band or they're holding bouquet or part of some fashion shoot and so forth was just such a treat to see.
Honestly, this was one of the things that was influential in my artistic life and is partly why I don't think twice when I get an idea for like putting my OCs in suits or having fun putting them in a different setting than what their story's in, you know? I see a post about putting your character(s) in an outfit of some kind and I'm like "oh yeah that looks like fun!". I do not bat an eye.
It's wild to me that other people just don't. What do you mean you don't? Huh?
So now I'm feeling super nostalgic for it.
Jokes on everyone else though because you can't take this power away from my hands. You cannot stop this silly bean from making all this content for my own stuff.
Like imagine limiting yourself like this. Definitely not me. No way! I'm doing All the fun drawing things for my OCs and that's that. Live your best lives people. Draw the thing!
Fashion time? They're now in space? They're holding flowers? They're now randomly chefs? Like go wild! Have fun!.
