It is May! Can you believe it? Happy first of May everyone!
Now I'm gonna talk about games because I have a lot to ramble about on those haha
So last time I mentioned I finished all I wanted to do before dealing with Buildertopia stuff. Well now I've checked out what that's all about! It was what triggered the epilogue. It's nothing too big, but I did have to change some things around.
Initially, I figured I could just turn the island the group is on to be their actual new home and I got myself all prepped up for that, but when I got there everyone was like "we wanna see your island!" and I just didn't have the heart to deny them. So I had to move some people out of my Isle of Awakening to make sure I can move all these other characters over.
In a way, this is cute. Part of Dragon Quest Builders 2 is that people and monsters can live together in peace. So naturally, having the monsters you befriend over the course of the game should live on the Isle of Awakening alongside all the people you've befriended. While I had recruited other monsters to live there already, it makes sense story-wise to have the actual named monsters be there, too. So anyways, my Isle of Awakening is mostly comprised of all the named characters and it's cute!
That meant shuffling others to my Buildertopias, which I now have three of (the max number). I sorta had a spark of inspiration for my first Buildertopia, buuut it's a huge undertaking and I don't know if I'll follow through with that one and instead alter it to be much more manageable. v': That said, it's nothing I couldn't slowly work on whenever I feel like doing a project.
The second buildertopia island is the one from the epilogue, but it's temporarily gonna be my overstock place (where I put farm animals and maybe people I don't have a place for), but I would like to make it into something where the centre piece is the ship. Don't have any solid plans for that now though.
The third island is just gonna be a cute place to mix in things I didn't really have a place for or just to have something chill to design. None of these islands are developed passed the necessities for whomever lives on them right now, but one is a huge project that's a bit daunting to me and the other two I don't have like full concepts for yet.
So I've put the game down for a bit to mull things over for awhile and decided it was a good time to get into (or back into in some cases) game demos I have on the Switch in the meantime. It's been super fun so far!
I've checked out all kinds of games. Most of them are pretty short, which is fine. I could get them done in a quick session.
Aerial_Knight's Never Yield I've seen a bit of even before the Nintendo Indie Direct, but was definitely happy to hear there'd be a demo. Such a solid style and soundtrack and I really hope this works out for the dev. He deserves it for sure. I'm not great at runners, but then again, I'm not great at video games in general, but there's really no consequence other than starting from a checkpoint again and it's just super chill. Other runners I've played made you start the whole level again, with the kinder ones giving you up to a certain amount of chances before doing it all over. So this was just so nice to see for someone like me. It also gives me a chance to admire the sets more though so it's just solid all around. Looking forward to this one!
Summer in Mara had a demo and I didn't even know about until I was looking for demos to try out and saw it among the list. They recently released Deiland, a farm sim in spaaaaace actually, but they don't have a demo for that one. In any case, Summer in Mara was something I've been curious about ever since I first heard it last year or so. It's really cute and I think I'd like to play it in full one day when I have the money and such to do so.
Hyrule Warrios: Age of Calamity is super fun! I technically own the first Hyrule Warriors, but never got a chance to even open it before things happened in life. It was on sale I think or some kind of deal was on it, so I picked it up. But anyways, it wasn't something I was dying to play, but because this one has a tie in to Breath of the Wild and all I... just really wanted to try it out. I've watched others play it before I got the demo and enjoyed what I saw so I was like yeah now I'm gonna try this out for myself. I enjoy it a lot! So it's being added to The List.
I'm trying to remember what else I've tried before the ones I got super hooked into. Oh well, there wasn't a game I tried I didn't find enjoyment in so that's fine.
Otherwise, Trials of Mana and Miitopia... HULLO??? Not me getting super hooked on those. What the heckie??
The Mana Series has always intrigued me since they first came out, but never had an opportunity to play them. And I know that Secret of Mana is considered the Mana game (and one of the greatest games of all time apparently), but Trials of Mana was finally officially released outside of Japan for the first time as both part of the Collections and the remake called Trials of Mana. (Secret of Mana did get a 3D remake, but it isn't on the Switch and thus has no demo for me to even try it.) This game is reminiscent of its time, but I think it's still good. I knew all that going in. ToM wasn't praised as well as SoM when it first came out, but it's fine. I played the demo six times to make sure I see everyone's story and the like and just to play around with the teammates and all that. But I don't have the means to just buy this game so I've been watching playthroughs of it and yeah, it's nothing Superb, but it's still fun and enjoyable to me. And those bops! Totes been jamming to the tunes in this game. One day I'll just buy this game for myself.
Miitopia is another game I was sorta curious about when it was on the 3DS, but I didn't see anything about it that made me want to really look into it. But the Direct on the remake got me curious again and with some people I know talking about it all I was like alright then! Let's check this demo out. To my surprise I've been really into it! It's simple and nothing like super layered or anything, but those graphics? The cute tunes? The silly nonsense? Oh my golly gawsh, YES MUCH??? I just wanted to try it out to see what it's all about, but now I'm like thinking of putting this game on The List as well.
I didn't have anything planned going in. I wasn't gonna play myself in it as I don't tend to ever really do that in games. So I just made stuff up and uh well...
Not me being inspired and making new OCs out of all this haha ha haaa
Seriously though I was not anticipating this. So now I have a team of characters all named after fruits and just being cute and great and I love them and this silly adventure they're all on. I haven't officially finished the demo yet, but like I'm probably gonna play this for a while yet.
I've uhhh also been taking a lot of screenshots. So much so that I've had to upload them all on my computer so I can erase it on the card so I
can have room again haha I'mmm gonna have a time going through all this stuff though. Now it's at a point where like I wanna share some photos and maybe videos of the things I've come across of made in games I've played like Dragon Quest Builders 2 and the like, but there's sooo much of it that it's daunting v:
Speaking of photos though, golly do I wish I could get the New Pokémon Snap! I've watched someone play it and oooooh it looks so good! I loved the original Pokémon Snap and to see this after 22 years is just Big Wow. It looks so pretty and chill and just I'm so happy to see this is actually a thing. I'll get this game for myself one day!
