Happy New Year 2024 (and rambles)

I hope 2024 is a good one for us all.
And now for some rambles v:
Still unemployed. I stopped looking for work sometime in December because 1) I needed the break (mental health especially), 2) either too little or too many jobs that are seasonal and after a point they stop coming in because otherwise you're employed for like two weeks then you're out, and 3) it's the holidays and I wanted a chill holiday season (or as close to one as possible). I will be back on the job hunting grind starting next week. I was going to do it this week, but other plans happened and really I think I could mentally prepare myself better if I started next week. Here's to hoping I find something this year (and may it be a good one).
I opted not going back to school in January. Too stressful and too short of time to really try. But if I do go back to school then it'll be this September. We'll see if it happens, but maybe I'll be fortunate enough to get a decent job. Or maybe I'll get a decent job that will let me go back to school full time? Who knows.
Decided to not continue on my monthly wallpapers project. Two years was a good run and I made a lot that I really liked the results of. I think there was maybe one where I didn't realize my lil mistakes until way too long after I had posted it. But out of the two years of doing this, having one that didn't make it to content with it tier is pretty good! I'll probably do phone wallpapers at random since I've got a nice template and all for it. Most likely it'll be when I feel like I want a new one on my phone hahaha
Since I've stopped doing wallpapers though I decided to go through all my posts and delete all the preview posts. I've also closed my shop for the moment that had all the original (i.e. non-fanart) wallpapers up after the month they aired was over. On the one hand, it's nice to have things cleaned up. On the other, there's like gaps in my posts. There's also, for quite a few of them, especially the original work, have no posts representing them at all.
I haven't fully decided how I'm going to handle this. They're like some of my best work in the past two year so I don't want to just hide them, but also, the semi-point of them is that they're a perk for ko-fi tippers/shop buyers. I want to compile them in a way for other sites so they can see all the ones I did, but not be anywhere close to full size. It's a good talking point though to showcase the two year project together. But how to present them on ko-fi is definitely where I'm a lil stuck (shop post? supporters locked post?). I'll make a decision on this soon because I don't want to leave January without doing this. I'd like to start thinking about what I might draw now that we're in 2024.
Actually because I've closed my shop I'm wondering if there's reason to reopen anyways? Like at the beginning I had a couple of things sold, especially for the colouring pages, which was rad! And I'd like to make more colouring pages or even a mini [digital] colouring book of sorts, but either my stuff just doesn't look fun to colour or maybe it's not worth the price or something, but even those stopped getting any interest. The wallpapers were a whole different thing because fanart stuff eventually becomes free for all to snag after the month they previewed in is over, but the original stuff clearly didn't have any interest as I didn't really get sales when I eventually put them up in the shop after the month they previewed in was over. Too boring? Too pricey? Too non-fanarty? I don't know.
Personally, love the original work I did and the project was more for me than anything, but oof is it ever hard to balance original and fanart work. I like what I like and I enjoy exploring what I want. Just doesn't speak to anyone besides me though haha
Other than all that, most of my chill time is spent watching streams or youtube or playing video games.
I have so many games and there's plenty more coming this year that it's like rather whelming haha Currently doing the DLC for Pokémon Violet and will definitely be around for the epilogue coming next week (Jan 11 I think, right?), but I'd like to go back to playing Dragon Quest Monsters 3, Chrono Cross, Splatoon (especially because the next Splatfest is happening next week, like the day after Pokémon's epilogue comes out), and then like the whole batch of games I got in the past few months that I simply haven't had a chance to play yet. I'm hoping to get somewhere with these before the Princess Peach Showtime game comes out in March, which, you'd think is plenty of time, buuuuut it's also not. I mean, there's other games coming out between now and the Princess Peach game, but I'm thinking that I'll try to buy those games, but not play them yet. Whereas with Princess Peach I wanna play that the moment I get ist. As in everything will be put on hold until I play through that game haha
Gonna keep up my holiday decorations for a little longer. They're cute and the lights are always pretty. We only get to have these out for a little bit in the year. 11 months of the year is just the same ol', you know? Once they're put away it feels like I've lost a bit of magic or something hahaha
