Yokozuna Iwashi Deep-Sea Fish

pineauraFound out today that off the coast of Japan was a discovery of a new, big deep-sea fish they managed to capture for the first time this year! I love random, cool news like this so I'm going to share it here.
Notable things I took from the news:
Due to its size they've appropriately named these fish by giving them the highest rank in sumo wrestling, Yokozuna. The slickheads, which these fish resemble, but are concluded to not be genetically related to, are named off of sumo wrestler divisions (sekitori iwashi; the English speaking world refers to them as slickheads) so they're continuing the trend with this one.
It's over a meter long. The one they talk about is 1.4m. Apparently, the other fish, the slickheads, get up to around 30-40cm range. It's beeg!
It's a deep-sea fish. A deep-sea fish that's heavy. Weighs about 25 kilograms. Basically a small child. They're also surprisingly fast for their size and weight. It's notable because it's a big, heavy, fast, boney fish that lives more than 2000 meters below.
This beeg feesh has alluded all the researching that gets done in the region it's been found in. While I know we still haven't gotten as much information done about our oceans like we do with things like our much farther neighbour, the moon, it's still cool that something like this went unnoticed for so long and in an area where we're actually actively researching in. The other notable thing about these fish are their many tiny, sharp teeth. They're deemed top predators as a result of their teeth and diet (and other testing). It's fascinating because the other slickheads don't hunt for the same food. Their main diet is jellyfish and gelatinous creatures. The Yokozuna, however, do eat other fish.
